Sparta- Paul Edward Phillips Sr., age 85, was received into the loving hands of the Lord Jesus on Sunday afternoon September 7, 2025, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born in Garwoods, NY on January 20, 1940, the son of the late Charles H and Frances (Dresser) Phillips. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Elizabeth Watson, Beverly Kerr, Charles Allen Phillips, in-laws Bill Watson, William Kerr, and a nephew Edward Nichols. Paul was married on October 24, 1964, to Patricia "Pat" (Schuyler) Phillips.

Paul grew up in Garwoods and graduated from Canaseraga Central School where he played basketball and soccer. After graduation he joined the US Navy serving as a Dispersing Clerk Petty Officer First Class on board the USS Donner. He was employed by Matthews and Fields Lumber Company of Henrietta for 58 years. He worked as an outside lumber salesman working all over Rochester. He was the person to go to for measuring stairs. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, gardening, a good hand when playing Euchre and keeping his lawn manicured. He was very skilled at using his wood lathe to turn out bowls, key holders and Christmas ornaments. He was a longtime faithful member of the Sparta Center Church and a member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of The American Legion.

Surviving in addition to his devoted wife of sixty years Pat, are a daughter Anna (John) Cannioto; sons Paul E. (Monica Rathburn) Phillips Jr., and Robert Phillips; grandchildren Brittany, Derrick, Zachary and Noah, three great-grandchildren Lily, Elliannna and Leonardo; sisters Marie (Russ) Nichols, Lois and her daughter Teri, brother Ronald (Linda) Phillips, sister in-law Carol Phillips, and a brother in-law John (Deb) Schuyler., Many nieces nephews cousins and friends, and our church congregation.

Friends may call Saturday September 13, 2025, from 11am to 1:00 pm at the Sparta Center Church, where a memorial service will be held at 1:00pm. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., in Dansville. Online memories may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
