West Sparta- Carolyn Mae Witherell age 94, passed away at home Wednesday afternoon March 19, 2025.

She was born in Dansville on August 22, 1930, a daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Lang) Sahrle. In 1952 she was married to Donald Witherell, who predeceased her in 2008. She was also predeceased by her siblings Rosemary Alexander, Richard (Gerda) Sahrle, John Sahrle, a sister in law Patricia Sahrle and a brother in-law Charles Lomler.

Carolyn attended Hartwick College in Oneonta New York. She was a secretary in the High School office at Dansville Central School for 28 years. She enjoyed her home on the hill, meticulously maintaining it inside and out.

She survived by her son Thomas (Jeannie) Witherell of Dansville, three granddaughters Jill (Michael) Bradley, Kristy (Adam) Ebert and Jessica (Steven) Coyne, a sister Doris Lomler, a brother David “Bucky” Sahrle, a brother in-law Frank Alexander, ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, West Sparta. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Online memorials may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
