Sparta- Gerald W. Hurlburt age 75, passed away early Saturday morning December 7, 2024, at his home in Sparta with family close by.

He was born in Dansville on February 21, 1949, a son of the late William and Mary (Van Durme) Hurlburt. On July 25, 1970, he was married to the former Eileen Oehlbeck Hurlburt who survives.

Gerry was formerly employed at Van Durme Tree Surgeons, and most recently Superior Walls. He was a member of the Sparta Center Fire Dept., the Loyal Order of the Moose in Dansville, he was also a former Cinderella Softball Coach. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting and spending time with his wife Eileen and his family at home in Sparta.

Surviving in addition to his wife Eileen are a daughter Jennifer (Stephen Zschoche) Hurlburt, a son Douglas (Cheri) Hurlburt, three grandchildren, Jordan (Cole Carney) Burley, Ryan (Abbey) and Paige Hurlburt and a great-granddaughter Roxanne Hurlburt, a sister Donna (Lee) Chamberlin, a brother Thomes (Connie) Hurlburt and several nieces and nephews.
