Dansville- Elizabeth Betty Whiteman Andrews, age 92, went to be with her lord and savior at home on Tuesday morning April 29, 2008, after a short illness. She was born in the Town of Sparta, on December 30, 1915, a daughter of the late Milton Scott and Alice Shepard Whiteman. On June 6, 1942, she was married to Paul Guile Andrews who predeceased her on February 25, 1966. She was also predeceased by a brother, John Whiteman and a sister Patricia Whiteman Cork. Betty worked as a secretary ending her career at the Hawkins School at Craig Colony in SONYEA. Previously she had worked for Kelly Brothers Nursery and the Montgomery Wards Store in Dansville. Betty was a member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church for many years and was a former member of the Sparta First Presbyterian Church in Groveland. She served her community as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 40, a member of the Deborah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Opportunity Circle at the Kings Daughters and Sons Home and was a member of the International Order of Kings Daughters and Sons NY Branch. Betty recorded over two thousand three hundred volunteer hours at Noyes Memorial Hospital and the Spice Box Gift Shop. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her two sons, Robert Paul Andrews of Sanford FL, and Richard Whiteman Andrews of Sparta. Her loving sister, Mary Jane Parry of AL, two granddaughters Bonnie Dixon and Shannon (Charles) England both of FL, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00am in the Dansville Presbyterian Church. Interment will be on Oakwood Cemetery, Nunda. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. In lieu of flowers friends may make memorial contributions to the Dansville Presbyterian Church, 3 School St., Dansville, NY 14437 or the charity of your choice.
