Obituary of Jay A. Huffman Jr.

Jay A. Huffman Jr. age 79, passed away early Monday morning June 5, 2017, at The Hurlbut Home in Rochester.

He was born in Nunda, on September 21, 1937, a son of the late Jay A. and Mary Hathaway Huffman Sr. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Louise Burger, Katherine Johnson, Maude and Gertrude Halpenny, and William and Harold Huffman. On July 31, 1982 he was married to Mary Sue Hollaert Huffman, who survives.

Jay was a longtime employee at Kraft General Foods at Birdseye in Avon. He was a past member of the Sparta Center Fire Department. In his free time he enjoyed tending to his lawn, his gardens, traveling with his wife Sue to the Casino to play the Slots. His greatest enjoyments in life were his family and the New York Yankees.

Surviving in addition to his wife Sue, are their children, Kevin (Lesley) Huffman, Keith (Lynn) Huffman, Kimberlee Wilbert, Michael (Sandy) Altamura, David (Wendy) Altamura, and Daniel Altamura; sisters, Phyllis Shafer and Mary Lou (Larry) Gilbert, sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Sparta Center Fire Department.
