Dansville- Glenn “Barney” L. Bovee 93, passed away peacefully Monday morning May 1, 2017 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation following a long illness.

He was born in Groveland, on February 10, 1924, a son of the late Lavergne and Elizabeth (Loudin) Bovee. He was also predeceased by his wife, Lena Mistretta, brothers, Robert and Harold Bovee.

Glenn was a WWII veteran serving with the United States Army from 1943-1945, touring in Belgium and France. He is a Life Member of the Daniel Goho Post #87 of the American Legion in Dansville. After his military Service Barney became a Dansville Police officer from 1951-1977 serving as chief for his last 6 years. After retirement Barney served on the Village Board from 1985-1989. He was also a communicant of St. Mary’s Church of Dansville.

Surviving Glenn, are his children, John (Penny) Bovee, Mike (Mona) Bovee, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, his sisters in law Lucy Mistretta, and Virginia VanWinkle.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville, NY. 14437. A funeral service will be held on Thursday 11:00am at the Hindle Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors following the funeral service in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
