Ossian- Mary E. "Betty" Rawleigh age 86, passed away early Wednesday afternoon October 26, 2016, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville after being transferred from the Livingston County CFNR in Mt. Morris. She was born in Mt. Morris on April 30, 1930, a daughter of the late Walter and Mable M. (Longneff) Gibson. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Jean Lown, Nancy Brandow and James Gibson. On September 12, 1953, she was married to Donald Rawleigh who survives. Affectionately known as "Aunt Betty" she was a daycare provider in her home for over thirty years for many families in the Ossian and Dansville communities. She was the Tax Collector for the Town of Ossian for nearly 40 years. She was a longtime member of the Ossian Ladies Aide and the Ossian Presbyterian Church. Surviving in addition to her devoted husband Don, are a daughter Natalie (James) Welch of Ossian, two grandchildren, James (Shelby) Welch and Nicole (Matthew) Miller, a great-grandson Remington James Welch, a sister in-law Linda R. Sleight and several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no prior calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Monday October 31 at 11:00 am at the Ossian Center Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William Ellis officiating. Interment will be in Ossian Center Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
