Dansville- Burton A. "Burt" Ross age 84, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning September 11, 2016. He was born in Rochester, NY on August 19, 1932, a son of the late Alvin and Dorothy (Burton) Ross. He was also predeceased by two great-grandchildren, Arianna Steen and Tyler Wiedrick and siblings, Ruth McDermott and Jack A. Ross. Burt retired from Rochester telephone in 1994. He was a master carpenter operating Burt's Woodworking in West Sparta for many years. He had also worked for Gibney Monuments of Dansville for several years. He served as a Free and Accepted Mason for over sixty years. He was a member of the South Dansville Wayland Lodge # 478 and also served as a Grand Lodge Officer. He was a Veteran serving in the Army National Guard between 1956 and 1959. He was also a volunteer fireman for many years at Fairport, Rush and Livonia Fire Departments. Burt is survived by his dear wife of sixty-five years, Delores (Land) Ross, a daughter, Bonnie Wiedrick of Dansville, a son, Alvin (Deborah) Ross of Conesus; a brother, Kenneth Ross of FL, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday September 16, from 4 to 8 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville, where a Masonic Service will be held at the completion of calling hours. Interment will be in Rogersville Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville. Online memories may be shared at HindleFuneralHome.com.
