Hessler age 93, passed away late Tuesday afternoon September 6, 2016, in Spring Arbor, MI where she was living the past few years. She was born in Dansville on March 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Rev. Frederick and Vosie (Southworth) Hessler. She was also predeceased by a sister, Claribel Thompson and two brothers, Erwin and Evan Hessler. Winifred was a school teacher at the Dansville Primary School for thirty-two years. Prior to her Dansville teaching she had taught in Ransomville for three years. She was a devoted member of the Dansville Free Methodist Church in which her father donated the land and built the church, where she had often played the piano, sang and was a Sunday School Teacher. She is survived by six nieces and nephews: Carl Thompson, Stanley Thompson, William Thompson, Neva (Hessler) Lattimer, Joy (Hessler) Thorp, and Hope (Hessler) Carter. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, and 10:00 am at the Dansville Free Methodist Church. Interment was in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville. Memorials may be made to the Dansville Free Methodist Church, 23 Franklin St. Dansville, NY 14437.
