Dansville- Joan R. Stone age 69, passed away peacefully at home early Friday morning July 17, 2015. She was born in Dansville on February 3, 1946, a daughter of the late Nile “Bud” and Marie (Gallagher) Sullivan. She was also predeceased by a brother Gerald and a brother in-law Richard Creason. On May 21, 1966, she was married to Robert C. Stone, who survives. Joan was the Vice Queen of the Red Hat Society Chapter #29501 Hunnies with Hattitude. She was a member of the Livingston County Relay for Life, where she was active in fundraising which she thoroughly enjoyed. Joan was an avid bowler and won the NYS Seniors Tournament 2 years running. She loved her flower gardens and watching the birds in her free time. But most importantly she took pride in helping others and spending time with her family, children, grandchildren, and many friends. She was a communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville. Joan was a graduate of the Dansville Central School “Class of 1964”. She went on to work at Craig Colony in Sonyea and later worked in group homes as a Therapy Aide. She had also spent some time working at the former Skilled Nursing Facility in Geneseo and the Big M Grocery Store in Dansville. Surviving in addition to her husband Bob are two daughters, Tami (Paul) Coburn, and Holley (Lynn) Smalt both of Wayland, a son Rob (Barb) Stone of Dansville, grandchildren, Collin Coburn, Hunter, Brody and Sidney Stone, and Nicholas and Nathen Smalt, sisters, Donna (Bonner) New, Marlene Werth, Diane Sullivan, Patricia (Dennis) King, brothers, Lee (Pamela) Sullivan and Donald (Norma) Sullivan, sister in-laws, Darlene Sullivan, Kathy Davis, and Ruth Stone, brother in-law Ed Perry and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. A celebration of life immediately following the service will be at The Dansville Fish and Game Upper Club.
