Obituary of Lisa Marie McGowan

Ossian/Birdsboro,PA- Lisa Marie McGowan age 44, passed away early Monday morning January 5, 2015, at the home of her parents Domenick and Ann Martello. She was born in Rochester on January 6, 1970, a daughter of Domenick and Marie Ann (Gerace) Martello. On July 19, 2007, she was married to Brian McGowan. Lisa was a teacher of English at Berks Technical Institute in Reading PA. Lisa was a graduate of Nazareth College, held a Master's Degree of Education from SUNY Plattsburgh. She loved participating in sports, was an avid reader and enjoyed her many special friends. In August Lisa and her husband successfully participated in the Army Endurance test for the benefit of Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). Go Yankees. She is survived by her husband, Brian McGowan of Birdsboro, PA; a daughter, Grace Anne Strange of Philadelphia; Brian's children, Dylan and Brittany McGowan; her mother and father Dom and Ann Martello of Ossian; a brother, Chris (Kimberly) Martello of Linwood; a sister Mary Beth (Robert) York of Queensbury; nieces and nephews, Dominique Marie Martello, Sara, Lindsey and Abbey York, great niece, Macie Decker, Brian's parent's Robert (Pam) McGowan, grandparents, Jake (Shirley McGowan and Grant Moyer, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends may call Friday from 1:00 to 5:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 6 North St. in Canaseraga, NY. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Canaseraga and will be private for the family.
