Obituary of Mary Jane Herrick

She was born in Dansville on October 25, 1925, a daughter of the late William and Clara (Simon) Herrick. She was also predeceased by her siblings Elizabeth (Betsy) Campo, Dwight, William and Dr. Marvin Herrick. Mary grew up in Dansville, where she attended St. Marys School and graduated from Dansville High School Class of 1943. She worked at F.A. Owen Publishing Company, Foster Wheeler Energy Corp and for Dr. Victor Breen. After attending SUNY Geneseo for 10 years, she graduated in 1975 with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. While in Rochester, she volunteered at Strong Memorial Hospital and worked as a Life Line Counselor. Mary loved music, traveling and cats. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Hamlin. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Nancy Applin (Richard Marsden) Pierce of Hamlin and several nieces and nephews; best friend Marie DeCosta of the St. Johns Home, many friends in Hamlin, Kendall and at the St. Johns Meadows and St. Johns Home in Rochester. Friends may call Monday from 9:30 am to 11:00am at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3747 Brick School House Rd., Hamlin, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am. Calling hours in Dansville will be held Monday from 2:30 pm to 4:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., with interment following in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
