Obituary of Betty Snyder

She was born in Hornell, on October 18, 1923, the daughter of the late Charles and Decla (Fike) VanWinkle and was raised by Charles and Dorothy (Schaumberg) Van Winkle . On January 30, 1941, she was married to Eldon H. Baldy Snyder, who predeceased her on October 8, 2006. She was also predeceased by a son Charles Robert Bob Snyder on January 13, 1978. Betty was a member of the Dansville United Methodist Church, and the Tice Methodist Church in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was a member of the Dansville Area Historical Society, the Clara Barton Chapter # 1 of the American Red Cross. She was also a member of friends of the Dansville Public Library. Betty was formerly active in many community organizations including, the Noyes Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Spice Box Gift Shop, the United Methodist Womans Group, and Bell Choir, the Kings Daughters and Sons Home, Red Hat Society, PTL Club, Poinsettia Park Shuffle Board, a former Girl Scout Leader, and organizing the Tent Revival meetings held in Dansville several years ago. She worked for the Dansville Central School, in the cafeteria, remedial reading and was the in school suspension monitor. Betty is survived by a son James (Janice) Snyder, a daughter Norma (Robert) Price both of Dansville; seven grandchildren: Timothy Snyder, Todd (Julie) Snyder, Gretchen (Nathan) Weller, Denise (Jeff) Menger, Tammy (Daniel) Jones, Melissa Price, and Dawn (David) Zona. One step-grandson Robert John (Jamie) Price. Five great-grandchildren: Stephanie Duerr, Lokan and Zoe Marsland, Lucas Menger, and Oilver Jones, three step-greatgrandchildren Mason, Devin and Lensie Price; and several nieces, nephews and friends. There were no prior calling hours. A graveside service and interment was held in Rural Cemetery, Hornell. Arrangements were by Hindle Funeral Home Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Friends may make memorial contributions to the Dansville United Methodist Church, 3 Chestnut Ave., Dansville, NY 14437 or Livingston County Hospice, 2 Murray Hill Dr, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
